DAY 13 #POEMADAY: Middle of the Night by Shippy

MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT
By
Shippy
I woke up in the middle of the night,
Feeling hungry at 2 o clock,
went downstairs, not a soul in sight,
in the warmth of my pyjamas, slippers and socks,
Opened up the fridge, grabbed a snack to bite,
sat down in front of my TV,
Switched over to watch the boxing fight,
just the heater, the match, and me.
I realised the life I live,
Such happiness, that is for sure,
Wondering how, I can also give,
for that I do not know,
Morning came, the sun rose,
beaming into my room,
as the sweat poured gently from my nose,
Summer had come, I assume.
I guess it was a day for the pool,
shorts and sunglasses on,
only the ice cream keeping me cool,
Worries? Concerns? None.
But then reality hit...
I woke up in the middle of the night,
Realised it was all a dream,
Laying out in the cold just did not feel right,
Life was not as it seemed.
This is my life, This is the way, that I guess it has to be,
I go through this every single day,
just I, Myself... and me.
Maybe one day I'll wake up in the middle of the night,
and notice I have a friend,
Maybe one day I'll feel alright,
maybe happiness will be the end.
